Our chicken is raised naturally on grass supplemented with grain that has been raised locally. The feed is ground fresh for us on request.
We do NOT raise the Cornish X Rocks (the Food, Inc. chickens) that grow from 0 to 5 pounds dressed out in 49 days - if they don't have a heart attack first. Instead we have opted to raise a breed that is used in the Label Rouge rotational system in France. This breed of chicken takes a few weeks longer but they are much more adept at grass-feeding and foraging for food. The end result is well-worth the extra time and is superbly delicious!
